Update as of 20.12.2023

Sorry for the lack of posts!

It's not that we've not been doing anything interesting (we have!), it's just that it's quite hard to keep up with posting when you live on a campsite with no WiFi, no way of charging laptops, and were ill for a few days.

We both got a little ill after getting back from Queenstown on the 10th, and this has definitely been one of the reasons for stopping posting!

I was also slacking a little bit on my daily diary writing (the on-paper version of this blog that reminds me of what we've been up to). In fact, I've only just caught up on the past 10 days in one sitting (thanks to Google Maps location history!).

To catch you up, we walked both the Wānaka Outlet track (mainly flat) and the Upper Clutha River Trail (mostly NOT flat) on two of the hottest days of this summer so far! Great walks, just wouldn't recommend it in the heat, for sure.

We've also met the dog that we're dogsitting after New Year's (Mitch - he's a 2-year-old golden retriever and is absolutely lovely) and have been ducksitting around the campsite.

Our favourite duckling (Maverick - named after the Top Gun character) has gotten so big now and can even stay fully upright while cleaning himself! (or herself... you can't really tell with ducklings that young!)

We've watched the entire "Hunger Games" movie series which has just made me want to read the books again, as well as the entire "Men In Black" original trilogy. I always used to hate them, but after rewatching them in order, I actually really enjoyed them, and they're not too bad - as 'old' films go!

Last night, we watched another Christmas film - "Love Actually" - which is one of my favourites, but killed the battery on my laptop and required Matt's laptop to finish watching!

That's why I am where I am now! In Wānaka library while Matt is doing a training shift down at a local bar. We went out with them on a night out on the 13th and have only just recovered, in all honesty, but they were all super nice and showed us both that the bar will be a pretty chill place for Matt to work!

Wānaka Library is super nice, as well. They taped up the book that I brought out on holiday (and got damaged in transit) yesterday (free of charge, and very well!), as well as having free WiFi and a place to sit and work (and write blog posts) without requiring membership or any kind of signup process!

I've downloaded some more films to watch while Matt works a little later over the next few days (as I'll be in the tent by myself until quite late!) and generally sorted out some admin and work stuff.

All in all, sorry for the long gap between blog posts, and have some pictures of baby ducks!
