Woke up, cooked ourselves bacon and egg sandwiches, and then headed out to explore the area.
As our campsite was very well located, we were able to walk into town from the site, and so off we went! Our main objective of the day was searching for suitable shoes for the warm weather - Abi wanted sandals, and I was on the search for flipflops.
With the first few stored proving unsuccessful, I left Abi to it and went in search of a bar! I found a backpackers bar, grabbed myself a drink, and patiently waited for Abi to find suitable footwear. Not long after Abi joined me, and we headed to Caroline Bay Beach for a look around.
We saw a seal sunbathing on the beach; Abi really does have a talent for spotting wildlife, despite the seal's best efforts of blending in to it's surroundings!
After a long day exploring most of Timaru, we went back to camp to cook our intricate meal of instant noodles, the hot and spicy kind. Despite the simplicity, they are very tasty, and hit the spot just right!
Time for beers and cards in the tent. Since arriving in NZ we have both discovered a love for IPA's and APA's. For those wondering the difference, it's apparently all in the hops!
Abi is really extending her lead in this game of cards now... I'll have to come up with a plan to make a comeback!
