After a much better nights sleep, it's time to start our car hunt. After a chat with our host, we get a recommendation of a car dealer that may have something in stock. We walk around 45 minutes to find the dealership, and realise we are in the car dealership district. Dealerships as far as the eye can see, except for the occasional café and florist (not sure why there were so many florists in this area...)
We head into the dealership, but unfortunately they didn't have anything within our budget, but the guy in the shop was very helpful, calling up other dealers in the area to see if they had anything. Apparently, some change to NZ law means that they don't have as many cheap cars as they used to, so we were out of luck with everyone he called.
Not to be deterred, we continues our hunt, and headed to another garage across the road. Whilst they didn't have anything, they gave us another recommendation on where we may go, and that's when we found Doug Drake Motors. Whilst they didn't have any on the lot, they did have one that they had sent off to be cleaned and get a new WOF (Warrant Of Fitness, NZ's version of an MOT). It would be back on the lot on Wednesday, when we will be able to test drive it.
So, with us having to wait until Wednesday, we decided the best thing to do would be to walk to town, have a look around some charity shops for equipment, and then head to lunch. We found a lovely place called Little High Eatery, which was lovely contemporary food court. We got Pizza from Base, a lovely wood-fired bbq chicken pizza, and some local ales from Bacon Bros Burgers. Both were delicious.
From here, we headed to more charity shops, before deciding to head home. As it was a long walk back, we decided to rent out some electric scooters from Lime, which came very cheap for their efficiency. Unfortunately we didn't get any photos of us using them, I'm not sure it would've been safe to do so!
In the evening, we relaxed and watched films, then now time for bed.
We didn't take any photos that day, so here's a photo of a Labrador (Molly) dismembering a chicken.
